YouTube will change the YPP threshold from 4000 hours of watch time per year to 8000 hours in February 2027.
This means the difficulty of achieving the metrics will double.
The same applies to short videos, and a new threshold of 10 million views in 3 months has been added for short video ad revenue sharing. If this isn’t met, there will be no ad revenue sharing.
X
Similarly, X has also recently updated its monetization thresholds.
Originality requirements are very high, and there are more dimensions for data review. I won’t go into specifics, but in short, it’s become much more difficult.
Web
I created my blog around March, and for a while, Google indexed over a dozen of my blog posts.
However, with its algorithm update in May, all my blog’s indexed pages disappeared.
For an original blog like mine, I think Google’s algorithm is garbage. It gets worse with every update, a clear sign of big tech arrogance.
I can accept it not indexing my blog, but I cannot accept that garbage farm content and AI-generated junk content are being indexed.
Online Income
As you can see,
Several platforms I follow have all raised their monetization thresholds for creators in the past few days.
There must be a reason behind this.
Either advertisers’ funds have decreased, or platforms are adjusting their strategies.
For creators, digital assets are never static.
Traffic can decrease, income can decrease, accounts can be banned, algorithms can change, and thresholds can increase.
The only relatively stable constant is one’s own website.
You can leverage platforms, but you cannot rely on them.
Elimination System
Platforms have always encouraged new content and new creators.
Even if your content is excellent and high-quality, platforms will still direct traffic to newcomers.
This is a cycle.
At the same time, trending news and information are also favored by platforms and users, just like buying watermelons in summer and drinking hot soup in winter.
Every season has its own things.
You can’t discuss ice with a summer insect, and there’s no need to insist on cold drinks in winter.
Hot Topics
I have already chosen a platform and tentatively selected a niche, and have started to maintain a certain frequency of output and updates.
All that’s left is to capture some trending traffic, which requires building my own information sources.
Today, I deployed RSS on a cloud server; it’s more stable compared to local deployment.
Tomorrow, I plan to filter RSS information sources.
